A San Francisco Giants Bedtime Story, part 1

Once upon a time, in the best city in the whole world, which happened to be on a gorgeous bay, there was a baseball team. They called themselves the Giants, & they were renowned for being scrappy, for their absurdly amazing pitching, and for having the best eye-candy in baseball. But, unbeknownst to the team & their legion of faithful fans, a dark wizard had placed an evil and insidious curse on them. Soon, it seemed the mighty kingdom they had built was crumbling to bits. Being the scrappy heroes that they are, however, they did not give in to the curse's dark power. Instead, they struggled against its evil influence with their every breath. They suffered greatly whilst defending their kingdom and were forced to leave behind many wounded as the year wore on. The curse's power seemed to grow ever stronger, until they were nearly all beaten down by it. Yet their legions of followers continued to stand behind them, & the Giants drew on their support & on their combined strength, refusing to yield to the wizard's dark power. In those moments when all hope seemed lost, when there appeared to be nothing heroic left in any of them, a spark would flare & set new light blazing through their hearts, spurring them to victory, to the new day.
