[I know this can be improved on, but I think it isn't too bad for a first attempt.]
Another day to pace away,
a mask that lies "It's all okay,"
if it's what you need to hear
in front of you, it's all I'll say.
Alone, I fight to push back fear
that I'll never again let someone near
or taste a kiss without a twinge,
the tragic visions of a seer.
Thinking back, I flinch and cringe,
edges of memory wilt and singe.
I hold back tears I wish to weep,
find a new dream on which my hope to hinge.
My thoughts are clouded, dark and deep,
And Frost's words into my mind do creep:
"And miles to go before I sleep,
and miles to go before I sleep."
Another day to pace away,
a mask that lies "It's all okay,"
if it's what you need to hear
in front of you, it's all I'll say.
Alone, I fight to push back fear
that I'll never again let someone near
or taste a kiss without a twinge,
the tragic visions of a seer.
Thinking back, I flinch and cringe,
edges of memory wilt and singe.
I hold back tears I wish to weep,
find a new dream on which my hope to hinge.
My thoughts are clouded, dark and deep,
And Frost's words into my mind do creep:
"And miles to go before I sleep,
and miles to go before I sleep."
