For those not familiar, The Devil's Dictionary was a book by Ambrose Bierce. I'm not sure why, but at Barnes & Noble it is usually found in the "fiction/literature" section. I would put it in reference or humor, personally, but whatever. It's a satirical dictionary (not a complete one) defining words and terms with Ambrose Bierce's cynical, venomous wit. I got a copy for Christmas a few years ago, with great illustrations.

I am thinking it might need an update. It was originally published in 1906 (under the title The Cynic's Word Book), and although a century is nothing in the grand scheme of things, I feel modern culture has created a need for some new entries.

So I will be posting entries for the revised and updated lexicon. I hope you enjoy them.
